Getting Here

Telluride is tucked into a box canyon high in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. Getting here takes a little extra travel, but the scenery along the way makes it well worth the trip!

Fly into Montrose

For most guests, we recommend flying into Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ) as the easiest option for getting to Telluride.

Ride into the Mountains

From Montrose, Telluride is approximately 65 miles, or 75–90 minutes, away. Shared airport shuttles and private car services are available for the scenic drive into the mountains.

Skip the Rental Car

Most guests won’t need a rental car during their stay. Telluride and Mountain Village are both walkable, with the free gondola and local transportation making it easy to get around. Unless you’re planning to explore beyond the area, we recommend using airport transportation instead of renting a car.

When Should I Arrive?

If your schedule allows, we recommend arriving one to two days before the wedding. This gives you some flexibility for travel delays and extra time to adjust to the altitude before the big day.

We’ll be in Telluride for the week leading up to the wedding. If you’re considering making a longer trip out of it, we’ll share some of our plans and suggestions for things to do as the date gets closer.

Where to Fly

Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ)

Montrose offers commercial flights through several major airlines, with connections through larger airports around the country. It generally offers more flight options and flexibility than Telluride’s smaller regional airport.

Yes! Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) is much closer to town and offers limited scheduled commercial flights, including service connecting through Denver. It’s worth comparing flights if the schedule works for you, but Montrose generally offers more flight options, often at lower prices, and greater flexibility.

Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT) and Durango–La Plata County Airport (DRO) are also possibilities, although both involve longer drives to Telluride. Depending on where you’re traveling from, it may be worth comparing flight prices and schedules before deciding.

Once You’re Here

The Gondola

The free gondola connects downtown Telluride and Mountain Village, with a scenic ride of approximately 12 minutes between the two. Along the way, you can stop at San Sophia Station, where our ceremony will take place.

During the summer, the gondola runs daily from 6:30 AM to midnight.

Getting Around Town

Both Telluride and Mountain Village are pedestrian-friendly, with shops, restaurants, and plenty to explore on foot.

Downtown Telluride offers free local public transportation, while Mountain Village has bus routes and shuttle services that help visitors travel between lodging, the village center, and gondola stations. Availability may vary depending on where you’re staying.

If You Drive

Parking options vary depending on where you’re staying. If you’re bringing a car, we recommend checking with your hotel or rental property ahead of time.

The Gondola Parking Garage in Mountain Village generally offers free daytime parking during the summer, although overnight parking has a fee. Parking in downtown Telluride can be more limited, particularly during busy weekends.
