Telluride & Mountain Village

Located in southwestern Colorado, Telluride and Mountain Village sit high in the San Juan Mountains, surrounded by some of the most incredible scenery in the state.

Telluride is a historic mountain town tucked into a box canyon, with a walkable downtown full of restaurants, shops, and historic buildings. Mountain Village sits higher up the mountain and is home to the ski resort, additional restaurants, lodging, and outdoor activities.

The two towns are connected by the free gondola, a scenic 12-minute ride with a stop at San Sophia Station along the way. Whether you’re staying in Telluride or Mountain Village, it’s easy to explore both without needing a car.

Altitude & Weather

Telluride is high in the mountains. Even if you feel fine, the altitude can tire you out and dehydrate you faster than usual.

  • Drink more water than usual, and go easy on alcohol for the first day or two.
  • Take it easy on your first day.
  • If you have heart, lung or other health concerns, talk to your doctor before you travel.

June days are usually warm and sunny with cool evenings, but mountain weather changes quickly. Bring a layer.
